Communiqué November 13

We ask you attention for the following:

On the 12th of November, 2023, Avi Savitzki, the lawyer of Danny Rothman, issued a defamatory letter against the lawyer of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Advocate Mazen Qupty.
The Armenian Patriarchate declares that this letter is full of libel, and intends to attack and defame the personality of Advocate Mazen Qupty for his major involvement in assisting the Patriarchate in uncovering facts and evidences against Danny Rothman and his company Xana Gardens Ltc. and these are the same evidences that led to the decision of the Patriarchate to cancel the agreement with Xana Gardens Ltc. and subsequently, Danny Rothman.
It is true that Advocate Mazen Qupty, and, together with the Armenian Patriarchate Advocate Yossi Avneri, both represented the Patriarchate during the negotiation. When Advocate Qupty reached a conclusion that there are issues that are suspicious behind this transaction, he withdrew from the negotiations and he informed the Real Estate Director at the time, (the former) Father Baret Yeretsian that he cannot continue representing the Patriarchate in this matter, all of which happened before the signing of the agreement.
It is essential to note that through this attempted libel, Advocate Mazen Qupty, in all of his communications with the Armenian Patriarchate, did not once receive any monetary compensation, from either Xana Gardens Ltc., or the person of Danny Rothman for this transaction. Any implication or accusation suggesting otherwise is categorically false.
The Patriarchate testifies that Advocate Mazen Qupty has always worked with integrity and astuteness in all his legal dealings. He has worked with the Patriarchate over the span of three decades and we are grateful for his legal expertise and consummate professionalism.
We request the Armenian community of Jerusalem to remain vigilant regarding all announcements related to this transaction, as many of them may intend to defame the name of the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Armenian Patriarchate, and its lawyers.
DIVAN OF THE ARMENIAN PATRIARCHATE
